Keynote: Trends in the US Recovered Paper: Collection/Supply and Demand from Domestic US Mill Market

Thursday, December 3, 2015 - 11:10

The large recovered paper supply collected in the USA has been changing significantly over the last decade and this trend will continue. These changes are due to the way recovered paper is collected & processed/sorted as well is the use of paper/board in the US. The presentation will cover the evolution of the US collection system (both residential and commercial/industrial/institutional) over time and the forward looking trends to expect. (more details...)

The use of paper in the US is also changing, particularly in the graphic sector.  The presentation will detail how changing habits in the use of paper and board in the country will impact what can be recovered for use as recycled fiber.

With the increase in the US supply of paper recovered for recycling and somewhat decreased domestic demand over the last ten years, currently about 40% of the collected material is exported to a wide range of countries around the world. The presentation will detail the trends in the US domestic mill demand for recovered paper.
